Last updated: September 24, 2026. This policy is provided by My Echo Path LLC for the NearlyEaten app and website.
1. Who we are
NearlyEaten is operated by My Echo Path LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We aim to collect as little as possible.
2. Information we collect
- Account information — if you create an account, your email address and a user identifier. You can sign in with Apple or Google (we receive the email tied to that sign-in) or with an email and password.
- Your lists — restaurants you save to a watchlist and your notification preferences.
- Usage & device data — basic, aggregated app usage and diagnostics to keep the app working.
- Purchases — if you buy Pro, purchase validation is handled by the app stores and our payments provider; we do not receive your full card details.
We do not collect health information about you. Restaurant health-inspection results shown in the app are public records published by government agencies — information about businesses, not about you.
3. Location
If you use "near me" search, the app uses your device location to find nearby restaurants. Location is used to run the search and is not sold. You can instead search by typing a zip, city, or state and skip location entirely.
4. How we use your information
- To run restaurant search and show inspection grades.
- To power your watchlist and send grade-change alerts you've opted into.
- To provide, secure, and improve the app.
- To process Pro purchases and restore them across your devices.
5. Advertising
The free tier shows ads through Google AdMob. We request non-personalized ads. Ad providers may process limited device data to serve and measure ads under their own policies. Pro removes ads.
6. Third-party services
We rely on a small set of providers, each under its own privacy policy:
- Supabase — secure backend, authentication, and database hosting.
- RevenueCat and the Apple App Store / Google Play — purchases and subscription management.
- Google AdMob — advertising (non-personalized).
- Apple & Google Sign-In — optional authentication.
- Official city & county open-data portals — the source of inspection records.
7. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the providers above to operate the app, or where required by law.
8. Retention & deletion
We keep account data while your account is active. You can delete your account from within the app (Profile → Delete account, a two-step confirmation), which removes your account and associated data. You may also email us to request deletion.
9. Security
Sign-in sessions are stored in the device's secure keychain/keystore, access to your data is protected by row-level security, and sensitive operations use encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
10. Your choices & rights
- Turn location off in your device settings and search by zip/city/state instead.
- Manage or disable notifications in the app or your device settings.
- Upgrade to Pro to remove ads.
- Delete your account at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as GDPR or CCPA.
11. Children
NearlyEaten is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
12. Changes & contact
We may update this policy; we'll revise the date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app. Questions? Email support@nearlyeaten.com.
